Route 77 Road Closure Detour Details

Beginning January 4, 2024, the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will assist the Maryland Environmental Services with the renovation and replacement of a sewer line under MD 77 (Foxville Road) between Pryor Road and Park Central Road, a span of two miles, in Thurmont, Frederick County. The project requires a road closure which is expected to remain in effect through May 2024. Here are two alternate routes for you to continue to enjoy your “getaway in the mountains!”

FROM FREDERICK (via Gambrill Park Road):

From Route 40 in Frederick, head West towards Gambrill Park Road.
Turn Right onto Gambrill Park Road. Continue for 1.6 miles.
At the top of the hill, turn right to continue on Gambrill Park Road. Continue for 7.2 miles.
At the fork, make a slight left onto Mink Farm Rd/Tower Road. Continue for 1 mile.
Mink Farm Road will become a dirt road. Continue straight for ½ mile.
Turn left into the driveway of Ole Mink Farm Recreation Resort.

FROM THURMONT (via Route 550):

From Thurmont, head Northwest on MD 550 (Sabillasville Road) to Stop Sign, approximately 4 miles.
Turn Left onto Foxville Deerfield Road and cross the train tracks.
Turn right immediately past the train tracks. Continue for 4 miles.
Bear left to continue on Foxville Deerfield Road at Mt Moriah Lutheran Church. Continue for ¼ mile.
At the Stop Sign, turn left onto MD 77 East. Continue for 2.6 miles.
Turn right onto Catoctin Hollow RD. Continue for 2.8 miles.
Turn right onto Mink Farm Rd and continue for 1.3 miles.
Turn right into driveway of Ole Mink Farm Recreation Resort.

From Gettysburg, PA and the North

Ole Mink Farm is located 18 miles south of Gettysburg, PA. Take US 15 South to Thurmont, MD. Exit onto Route 77, West. Follow Route 77 miles to Catoctin Hollow Road. Turn left onto Catoctin Hollow Road and travel 3 miles. Turn right onto Mink Farm Road. Travel 1½ miles to entrance on the right.

From Hagerstown, MD and the West

Ole Mink Farm is located 18 miles east of Hagerstown, MD. Take I-81 to I-70 South. Exit at US 66 North. Travel 5 miles to light. Turn right onto Route 64. Travel to first light. Turn right onto Route 77 East. Follow Route 77 seven miles to Catoctin Hollow Road. Turn right onto Catoctin Hollow Road and travel 3 miles. Turn right onto Mink Farm Road. Travel 1½ miles to entrance on the right.

From Frederick, MD

Ole Mink Farm is located just 25 miles north of Frederick, MD. Take US 15 North, 18 miles to Thurmont, MD. Exit onto Route 77, West. Follow Route 77 three miles to Catoctin Hollow Road. Turn left onto Catoctin Hollow Road and travel 3 miles. Turn right onto Mink Farm Road. Travel 1½ miles to entrance on the right.

From Washington, DC

Ole Mink Farm is located 60 miles north of Washington, DC. Take I-495 around Washington to 270 West to Frederick, MD. Follow directions from Frederick.

From New Jersey & Delaware

Ole Mink Farm is located 135 miles from Wilmington, DE and 175 miles from Philadelphia, PA. Take I-95 South toward Baltimore. Exit onto I-695 West around Baltimore. Follow directions from Baltimore.
